Kaatsu is developed by a Japanese Professor Yoshiaki Sato, M.D., Ph.D; derived from the words KA meaning “additional” and ATSU meaning “pressure”. It has been proven to be a safe and effective tool for strength, rehabilitation and recovery exercise. Kaatsu is an occlusion training which basically involves “Blood Flow Restriction” (BFR) or restricting of blood flow in veins of a working muscle to stimulate increase in endurance, strength and size. One may question as to how blockage of blood flow is beneficial; the answer—blood flow should not be TOTALLY restricted. How? As Kaatsu Traning uses bands which add pressure once put on(upper) arms and legs, blood flow occludes to veins but not the arteries paving the continuous delivery of blood by the arteries to the limb as the veins struggle to take back to the heart.
Once kaatsu training bands are used, muscle cells reach a point where they are so full of fluid that they have to either burst or grow. The low oxygen level in a muscle during the accumulation of blood forces your body to recruit larger fast-twitch fibers, resulting in extreme growth. Also, with lower oxygen, lactic acid rapidly gathers. This sounds a bit off, but studies show lactic acid by itself can increase protein synthesis.
Kaatsu works with either waking or lifting weights. Although the latter is more effective as per gains is considered but walking is highly recommended for injured people as their bodies will be programmed to such training before going into lifts. With proper execution and rest periods of not more than 40 seconds, optimize swelling and lactic acid accumulation in the muscle are to its maximum.
Less Lifting = More Gains
Kaatsu is a revolutionary training that works best for people who don’t like the idea of heavy weight lifting but wanting to achieve a lean to “hulk” body.It caters not only to gym buffs who dislike HEAVY weight lifting, but also to injured people and athletes as well. Kaatsu is making your workout life easier and less risky. As this kind of training stimulates the growth of new blood vessels which results to an increase in muscle size by using bands. Unlike heavy weight lifting which requires strenuous use of equipment which results to high chances of muscle and tissue damage.
Bear in mind that there might be a little discomfort upon usage of bands but one will eventually get used to it in the process; just make sure to wrap in such a way thatit is neither too loose nor too tight. Kaatsu training bands for saleor its cheaper substitute the BFR bands are currently sold in the market at an affordable price. You can choose among the BFR bands—Classic at $17.97, Pro which is the popular at $37.97 and Elite at $27.97. It’s made with the best material components that come with quality long-lasting elastic viable for every training period.
